Fire Department/ EMS Call Guide
When making an emergency call, always use /911ems so that EMS can properly receive your message. It’s very important to include your location in the call so responders know where to go.
Examples of good /911ems calls:
Examples of poor /911ems calls (do not use):
- /911ems Hello, my name is (first & last). There is an unconscious male lying near the basketball courts at Davis Park. He has a faint pulse, please send medical assistance.
- /911ems Hello, my name is (first & last). I’m at the grocery store parking lot in Little Village, where a female has collapsed and is unresponsive. She has a weak pulse, requesting EMS.
- /911ems Hello, my name is (first & last). I’ve come across a male who is barely conscious on the sidewalk outside Vinewood Apartments. His breathing is shallow, please send paramedics immediately.
Always remember: your call should sound realistic, include your character’s name, and clearly state the location of the emergency. Short, vague, or unrealistic calls will not be taken seriously and may be ignored.
- /911ems My homie down, hurry.
- /911ems I think I’m dead, need help.
- /911ems Come quick, someone hurt.
Police/Sheriff Department Call Guide.
- When contacting the police through /911, it’s important to make your call detailed, realistic, and professional. You should always include your character’s first and last name, your exact location, and a clear description of the situation. Short, vague, or incomplete calls will not be taken seriously.
Examples of bad /911 calls:- /911 There’s some guys yelling and saying they have guns.
- /911 I crashed my car, send someone.
- /911 Help, I’m getting robbed. Examples of valid /911 calls: /911 My name is (first & last). I’m currently located outside the gas station on Grove Street. There is a group of men shouting at each other aggressively near the entrance, and it’s making customers nervous. There are about four of them, two in black hoodies and two in red jackets. I overheard one of them mention pulling out a weapon. Can an officer come by before things escalate?
- /911 My name is (first & last). I’m at the intersection of Carson Ave and Strawberry Blvd. I was just involved in a car accident and the other driver refuses to exchange information. I don’t need medical attention, but I would like an officer to come assist. I’ve written down the vehicle’s plate number in case they try to drive off.
- /911 My name is (first & last). I’m currently in the alley behind the 24/7 store in Rancho. A man has been following me for several blocks, trying to grab my backpack. He’s wearing a green hoodie and jeans, and I noticed him showing a handgun when I tried to get away. I’m scared and running out of energy. Please send police quickly. Local Caller Use: If your character is in a situation where providing a name wouldn’t make sense (for example, if you’re unconscious or too injured to identify yourself), you may make a /911 local caller report instead.
- Example: /911 (Local Caller) I was walking past the park near Innocence Blvd and noticed a female lying on the grass. I haven’t gone up to check on her, but she doesn’t seem responsive. She may be intoxicated or passed out. Could someone be sent here to check on her condition?
